What babysitting requests can I ask of OppasStudent?

You can contact us with any babysitting requests by the request form, whether they be: nighttime sitting, picking them up at school, the whole day, a babysitter on a travel trip, special one time requests, etc. This can be for specific or flexible date(s). If you are looking for a sitter to work for several whole days a week it can become troublesome to find only one sitter to do all of this, due to their studies. In this case we can find two students to share the workload.

I live outside of the Amsterdam bypass. Can I still find a babysitter through OppasStudent?

Outside the bypass reduces the probability of finding a babysitter in the neighborhood. Yet you can still register with us and we will start searching for a sitter. If we find one in the neighborhood we will then check if they are willing to commute, in this case we will set a travel allowance. We have already found many babysitters for families in Diemen, Amstelveen and Haarlem. Students are prepared to commute!

What if it doesn’t click between the babysitter and the family?

Although we do our best to find a perfect match between babysitters and families, of course we can’t always guarantee this. If it turns out that the sitter isn’t suitable, we will then proceed to look for a new sitter for you free of charge.

Is it possible to work as a permanent sitter with more than one family at OppasStudent?

Here at OppasStudent we find it important that students are sufficiently available for the family that they have to babysit for. If you think that you have enough free time to babysit for multiple families, for example if a family occasionally needs a sitter, we will search for another family for you free of charge. Although other students who are registered and don’t have a permanent family yet do have preference.

To what extent is OppasStudent held responsible after the matchup has been made?

Our responsibility ceases when a match has been made. The contact information is sent to the parents after they have agreed upon this, and it is left up to them and the babysitter to work out the details. Once we have sent this we are no longer held liable.

How does it work once my first year of subscription has ended?

Where parents have chosen direct debit, membership is automatically extended until further notice (notice period: 2 months). When parents pay through IDeal or transfer the fee themselves, we will inform them in time when the first year is about to expire so they can decide whether or not to renew their membership. If you choose not to renew your subscription and later still want to join back up again, the conditions will be the same as for new parents yet again (registration fee and minimum one year membership).

How long can I stay part of OppasStudent as a student-sitter?

As a student you pay a one time registration fee of €15,- with this you can stay part of OppasStudent for as long as you want. The only requirement is that you be a student.
